And although, at some superfluous level you do get to know what the main characters think, you never really get to know what's going on in their heads, how they truly FEEL. Sparks, you can do better than that).Third, when I went to check Spark's biography, it says on Wikipedia that one of his underlying themes is Christianity. First, the story was quite moving and interesting (the only factor that propelled me to finish the whole book), however the characters themselves were nothing short of sketches. I was wrong. Ever since I watched The Notebook Movie, I wanted to try Nicholas Sparks. And the main heroine is as chaste as an angel, albeit (as you will find out) not by her own devices (which made her a bit of a wimp sometimes). The ending was abrupt as many did complained here but I actually found it a very powerful ending to the whole "Was he really that lucky or not." question surrounding Logan. (Come on, Mr. And the fact that the author only mentioned their "making love" in mere couple of paragraphs was laughable.
There is hardly any swearing. I sometimes felt like the nature and surroundings were better SHOWED than the characters).Second, I felt there was zero attraction between Logan and Elizabeth. I got a free download for the Lucky One with a purchase of my new e-reader, so I set to read it with a mindset that it will evoke the same feelings as the movie did. So for the ones who want to buy this book, keep that in mind. (For example, the author can say the character is "scared" or "feels affection", he does not SHOW it by describing the main characters at THAT moment. They did have extensive dialogues (actually it seemed Beth did all the talking), yes, but their falling in love happened way too sudden. The main villain turns out to be a hero in the end. So, in general, it's an ok book, and would have been great, had the characters been DESCRIBED a bit better and were the emotions between Logan and Elizabeth more pronounced.
I have, in the past, ordered and received gently used books. I must say that the condition of this book, Luck One, I don't believe was ever read by anyone. The only thing missing was a plastic cover. I am very pleased to have received a book in such great condition.
this book was so great and kept me on the edge of my seat. i enjoy all nicholas sparks though, he is truely blessed with a talent.
SOme would argue it's like the bookwriting machines from "Brave New World" -- but you'd be wrong because I bet Hollywood makes this one into a movie. The book also contains: dog training, angry exhusbands, and acts of heroism involving a "swollen creek" and rising floodwaters.
It won't tax your brain terribly much, it will tug a bit at your heartstrings and it might help renew your faith in humanity and leave you in a slightly more optimistic mood than you were when you picked it up. It's the story of a U.S.
This is another harmless little bit of fluff from the master of mawkishness Nicholas Sparks. After he returns to the US and leaves the Marines, he goes in search of the woman and after that it's pretty predictable.
Marine who finds a photo while jogging in the desert of Iraq. He posts it in the barracks, but no one claims it and then he starts to notice that good things happen to him when he has it.
A bit from column A and a bit from Column B. ANy thoughts on who might play the leading man.
Way to go again for Nicholas Sparks. All his audiobooks are wonderful and this one did not disappoint me at all.
